Looking to Adopt a bird dog or hunting dog?

We are a 501c3 Maryland approved non-profit. We give refuge to homeless dogs (mostly bird-hunting varieties) and seek to provide forever homes for these rescues. We are careful to review adoption applicants to ensure that these dogs will go to homes where they can get the care, dietary and exercise requirements they need to thrive.

Available Dogs

Adoption Policies

Please take a moment to read our adoption policies below.

1. We do not do same day adoptions.
2. We do not ship our animals.
3. All animals in the applicant’s household must be spayed/neutered.
4. Puppies must be at least six months old to be adopted into a family with children under six years old.
5. No application will be processed until you have met with the animal. All family members must meet.
6.  All applications received will be processed with the best interests of the animal in mind, and to ensure a successful adoption for your family.
7.  After your application has been received, we will review it and contact you with questions or further instructions.
8. It is a requirement of the rescue for all current dogs in the household to meet with the selected dog.
9. There may be a home visit for dog adoptions.
10. Our animals have not been trained as therapy companions and cannot be adopted for this purpose. 
11.  You must be at least 21 years of age to adopt.
12.  MDGO reserves the right to refuse an adoption to anyone for any reason. All adoption decisions are confidential and final. 

 

Adoption Fees

Adoption fees vary based on the age, breed, and training. 

 

 

What your fee includes:

Spay/Neuter, Vaccines (Rabies, Canine 7 way- DA2PPvL+Cv] and flea and tick preventative, deworming, microchip = a value of ~$500.
